The performance is based on the reinterpreted myth of Plato’s cave. Matter appears here as a shadow and energy as something real and true. We consider a philosophical theme about illusion and reality, presented through generative graphics and sound.

Plato’s myth of the cave reflects the truth hidden from people who are content with only available illusions. In this performance, I reinterpret the famous allegory to show: matter is only a vague and deceptive reflection, while energy is the true reality.

Together we transformed the facade of the palace into a cave, filled it with particle energy, and in the finale the palace dissolved, revealing its pristine appearance.

Imagine yourself in a cave: as the limestone dissolves, we hear the sound of droplets falling in a rhythmic pattern. By adding the echo effect characteristic of a cave, you can get an infinite number of different rhythms.
In this snippet, I used a bunch of two programs — for sound and video processing. Working with pure tone, I created a variety of sounds using effects. Then I put these sounds into a Euclidean sequencer, which has several circularly looped playback axes. This way, the sounds rotate clockwise, triggering at random moments.

This is a technique I use often because it reminds me of nature’s rhythms. Imagine yourself in a cave: as the limestone dissolves, we hear the sounds of droplets falling in a rhythmic pattern. By adding the echo effect characteristic of a cave, you can get an infinite number of different rhythms.
